They know your heart and your intentions. You cannot fool a horse. We use the EAGALA Model of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning which is:
We hold this work to the highest ethical standards of safety and concern for both the client and the horses. All equine assisted sessions are performed at a farm. Information about the EAGALA model of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy can be viewed at www.eagala.org.
- Ground work with the horses.
No prior horse experience necessary; just a desire to know the horses and allow them to help you through experiential learning by assisting you to identify and cope with your issues.
- Working with a 2 person team
A licensed mental health specialist (me) and an equine specialist who is a master horseman/woman who work with you to help you experience the nature of the horses and the wisdom they impart as you create your story.
- A Solution–Focused Model of Psychotherapy- It is the belief that we all have within us the solutions to our dilemmas and obstacles. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning provides a tool for enabling clients of all ages and abilities to seek and find solutions. Horses teach us lots about who we are, how we treat others, how others have treated us. Horses help us do better and be better people. They teach us to remember to have fun.
